Canucks' Filip Hronek Trade Rumors: Agent Allan Walsh Sets the Record Straight (2026)

The Vancouver Canucks' Trade Rumors: A Defense Agent Speaks Out

The Vancouver Canucks have been at the center of intense trade discussions this season, and the speculation shows no signs of slowing down. Despite the recent trade of franchise star defenseman Quinn Hughes, the team seems poised to continue reshaping its roster as they transition into a rebuilding phase. No player, regardless of their position or tenure, has been spared from the trade rumors.

In a recent podcast episode, Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman hinted at the possibility of Filip Hronek leaving the organization if he were to invoke his no-move clause. This comment caught the attention of NHL player agent Allan Walsh, who also represents Hronek. Walsh took to X to clarify Hronek's status with the Canucks and shed light on the perspectives of both the organization and the player regarding potential trades.

"This talk is simply a waste of time. Great players are in high demand everywhere, but the NHL is not a fantasy league. Why bring up players who are not available for trade? Vancouver's management and coaching staff are pleased with Fil, and Fil has no desire to go elsewhere," Walsh's post stated.

Hronek has stepped up significantly since Hughes' departure, assuming a leadership role with the team. He now wears the 'A' as an alternate captain for Vancouver and ranks second on the team in points with three goals and 24 assists. Hronek is set to reach a career milestone on Monday, playing his 500th NHL game when the Canucks face off against the New York Islanders.

While Canucks President of Hockey Operations Jim Rutherford acknowledged that "it's [their] duty to take calls on everyone," management has historically been hesitant to make Hronek available for trade. In late November, the team shared that Hronek was "unlikely to go anywhere," despite their stated openness to trading veteran players. However, it's worth noting that Hughes was also previously labeled as "not a priority" for trade by the Canucks, so the situation remains fluid.
